A Renewed Lifestyle of Learning for Our Family

Most of my previous posts were based on activities that my children have been working on.  I wasn’t sharing much of my journey yet, and I am now feeling ready to do that here now.

The Lifestyle of Learning membership website is gearing up to the public here in the next month or two providing everything moves along as planned.  I am currently one of about 10 (I think) couples who have been going through the Seven Seasons to LYFE pilot program and have grown so much as a result.  I have grown so much closer to the Lord through all that I am learning and through the personal discipleship I have been receiving from Barbie Poling which is allowing me to move our home life more into a Lifestyle of Learning.

I was given the privilege to be interviewed by Marilyn Howshall yesterday via a live conference call and there will be a recording of that interview along with several other mom interviews available to the Lifestyle of Learning members.  One of the many blessings of this interview was that it caused me to look over my full Lifestyle of Learning journey and how I had changed my thinking to some degree, but missed the mark in so many areas because I did not know how to discern the voice of the Holy Spirit speaking through my conscience.  It was so good to think about and then write out how the Lord had been pursuing me this whole time and had never left my side or abandoned me, though I had not clung to Him and I had often abandoned Him.  He is so amazingly good.  The relationship I am beginning to share with the Lord is so sweet and so real, and it is because of the teaching I have received through the Lifestyle of Learning and Influential Parenting ministries.  Through learning to know the Holy Spirit’s voice and then the importance of responding with repentance (sorrow for how I hurt others, including God and then changing) and obedience (apologizing and replacing my unloving attitudes, intentions and motivation with loving attitudes, intentions and motivations) my life has been changing in such sweet ways.  I am ever so grateful for the Lord and the sacrificial obedience of Marilyn Howshall and Barbie Poling in their ministry into my life along with many others.

Tiana's Projects

The pictures were taken by Tiana and the below was written by Tiana.

Okay, I finally am going to post! I haven't really been posting lately because I have no idea what to post. But the last few days I have been sewing. I'm not a very good sewer, yet. But that's why I'm practicing on stuffed animal clothing and pillows. I have some pictures to share with you all, my two dresses for my cat Build-A-Bear, and my round pillow. I made up my own patterns all three of these, for the pillow I took a pattern from the store and modified it so technically it's my pattern. Okay, now the first dress I made turned out pretty good, but I like the second one best. I put the pictures so the my first project will be at the top and my last one on the bottom.

This is my round pillow I made, it was really simple!

This is the end of the pillow, as you can see it's just tied with ribbon to keep the stuffing inside.

A better look at the end.
This was the first dress I made for my cat, Crissy. This was made from left over fabric from the skirt I made with my mom last summer.

I decided to add a pin just to give the dress a completed look.

Here's the back of the dress, as I said this was my first dress. Since I gathered the skirt it was to short to sew in the back, so I just did the best I could and it turned out pretty good.
This is my second dress I made, it turned out a little better and the style is different. I don't know why but I like strapless dresses.

Here's the back, I was able to sew up the back on this dress. This dress turned out better than my first one.

Sereina's Embroidery

When Sereina was younger we did a little embroidery with some homeschool friends, but it didn't stick at that time.  Recently Seriena opted to order a book from the library and teach herself some stitches.  This is what she ended up doing to her pillow case.  I thought that was pretty neat.

Not long after that she found this pattern online and made both the owl and raccoon from felt.  She hand stitched pieces together once she embroidered them.

I thought they turned out very cute.
